The Digital Accessibility Community of Practice (CoP) is a network of select faculty and staff who are leading campus in accessibility of digital content and services. This community brings together individuals from across colleges and units to share knowledge, build skills and support one another in making digital experiences more accessible for everyone.
The CoP is designed to expand digital accessibility expertise across Iowa State while providing a consistent and coordinated approach with guidance, training and support from the ITS Digital Accessibility team.
How Community of Practice Members Can Help
Members of the Digital Accessibility CoP serve as local resources within their colleges and units. They may:
- Answer questions and provide guidance: Help colleagues understand accessibility requirements and recommend practical next steps.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues: Assist in reviewing content and identifying common accessibility barriers.
- Connect you to the right resources: Share relevant tools, training, and guidance from the Digital Accessibility Toolkit and other campus resources.
- Facilitate conversations within units: Help raise awareness and support discussions about accessibility in department teams and projects.
- Collaborate on solutions: Work with others across campus to share strategies, lessons learned, and effective approaches.
- Escalate or refer complex issues: Connect individuals to the ITS Digital Accessibility team when additional expertise or support is needed.
