This information pertains to ISU-owned student telephones installed in campus residence halls, Frederickson Court, and SUV apartments.

Alerting Rings

• Single Ring – indicates the call is from an on-campus extension
• Double Ring - indicates the call is call from off-campus or operator
• Triple Ring - indicates an automatic callback call

Automatic Callback (Available for calls from campus extensions only)

To activate:

1. Upon hearing a busy or unanswered call, PRESS switchhook or flash
2. PRESS * 5
3. CALL busy extension
4. LISTEN for recall dial tone; hang up (When the line is free, your telephone will ring with a triple ring.)
5. Lift handset
6. Wait for system to ring busy extension

Callback cancels if:

• You do not answer the triple ring within 20 seconds,
• Your line is busy for approximately 30 minutes, or
• Your called extension is busy for approximately 30 minutes.

Calls may be placed and received during callback period.

Call Waiting

Hearing one fast beep while you are on the line alerts you that you have another call.

To answer:

1. ASK the party you are speaking with to hold
2. PRESS switchhook or flash
3. LISTEN for confirmation tone
4. PRESS * 4 - OR - hang up - wait for ring

If you choose not to answer a waiting call, ignore the call waiting tone. The caller will hear ringing, not a busy signal.

Last Number Dialed

To redial the last number you called:

1. LISTEN for dial tone
2. PRESS # 9

Three-Way Calling

To place a three-party conference call:

1. ASK the first party to hold
2. PRESS switchhook or flash
3. LISTEN for recall dial tone
4. CALL second party and announce call
5. PRESS switchhook or flash

To drop a third party, busy signal, or unanswered call:

• PRESS switchhook or flash twice

Transfer

To transfer a call:

1. ASK party to hold
2. PRESS switchhook or flash
3. LISTEN for recall dial tone
4. CALL number, announce call, and hang up
