1. Purchase Your Hardware.

   • Tech CYte, located in the ISU bookstore in the Memorial Union, is Iowa State’s computer hardware and software resource. Information on ordering a computer and software can be found on the Tech CYte web page.
   • Current ISU students can get the latest Microsoft software at a fraction of the retail price through Tech CYte. For information, visit the Tech CYte Student page.

2. Load Additional Software.

   • Licensed

     Tech CYte sells most standard software; however, if you are an ISU employee, check with your local IT coordinator to see if there is a site license for the software you want before purchasing.

   • Ready for Download

     Some software is available to download free of charge to individuals with an Iowa State Net-ID. For a list of software available at no fee, visit the Software Downloads page.

   • MS Office for Home Use

     Eligible faculty and staff can order Microsoft Office for home use through the Iowa State University Home Use Plan (HUP).

   • Microsoft Student Select/MCA Program for ISU Students

3. Know Where to Get Technical Support.
