FAQ: How do I migrate to CyMail?
| At this time, only students may have CyMail accounts. To migrate from WebMail to CyMail: 1. Log into https://asw.iastate.edu/. 2. Click on "Manage User netid". 3. Click on "Migrate to CyMail". 4. Click on "Change your Net-ID password", and change your password. 5. Click "I agree". 6. Click Go. This process will move your mail from WebMail to CyMail. Once mail is moved, you can no longer log into WebMail. Log into CyMail with the link on http://www.iastate.edu/ or navigate to https://cymail.iastate.edu/ directly. The original CyMail information source is: http://www.it.iastate.edu/cymail/faq.html CyMail authentication is through PubCookie, which authenticates using your Iowa State Net-ID and password. Passwords can be changed at https://asw.iastate.edu/ under the "Manage User netid" link. To use a mail client to read CyMail, follow Google's documentation: 1. Log into https://cymail.iastate.edu/ with your Net-ID and password. 2. Click on settings in the upper righthand corner. 3. Click on the forwarding and pop/imap tab under settings. 4. Click on the configuration instructions at the bottom of the page. 5. Follow the directions that are associated with the client that you need to set up. 6. For reference, the domain that may need to be inputted is IASTATE.EDU. 7. At times you may need to input your email address, which is (replacing "netid" with your Iowa State Net-ID). You can download your Address Book in WebMail to a file that can be copied and pasted into the new contacts dialog in Gmail/CyMail. Exporting the contacts file from WebMail: 1. Go to https://asw.iastate.edu/. 2. Click on the link Manage Files. 3. Double-click .WebMail in the lefthand pane. 4. In the righthand pane, select Individuals. 5. Click the button marked Download File. 6. Save it to the Desktop (or user-preferred directory). 7. Open the individuals file in Notepad. 8. Copy and paste entries in the file to new contacts within the Gmail or CyMail window. Google is the source for further support for CyMail once migration is complete.
