Administrative Workstation Services
Acquisition
Information Technology Services works with clients to analyze needs and acquire appropriate equipment. Workstations, hardware, software, and other computer equipment is available to purchase, lease, or rent. Information Technology Services maintains and follows standards in accordance with the ISU Desktop Computer Standards.
Installation
Installations include consulting, software installation, coordination of communications, verification of network communications, hardware setup, hardware installation, hardware pickup and delivery, and business services.
There are four types of installations including basic, expedite, server, and hourly. Basic installation includes the installation or movement of equipment, which can be expedited if the install is required within five working days. Information Technology Services also installs and configures network servers. Hourly installation services are available for unsupported equipment.
Support, Education, Maintenance, and Costs
Client workstation support includes consulting, verification of network communications, access to the Help Center, hardware troubleshooting, hardware exchange, hardware pickup and delivery, and business services. Information Technology Services also offers a variety of courses designed to familiarize clients with supported hardware and software. Information Technology Services provides onsite support with a dedicated team of technicians and temporary equipment during repair. Trouble calls are directed to the Help Center first in all cases, and if they are unable to provide a solution an Information Technology Services technician will assist onsite. Information Technology Services supports Microsoft Exchange and Outlook as its integrated email and calendaring system. Email service also includes virus detection and filtration, contacts, ISU global address lists, storage, and backup. View the Email/Calendar (Exchange) costs.
File and Print Servers
Information Technology Services offers access and support to shared file and print servers. This support includes consulting, software installation, configuration and maintenance of network security, coordination of communications installations, verification of network communications, backup services (in compliance with the Backup Policy), network training, operations support, access to the Help Center, hardware troubleshooting, hardware equipment exchange, hardware pickup and delivery, and business services.
Some clients choose to maintain their own servers that are supported by their own staff network coordinators. Information Technology Services conducts a regular network coordinator forum for information exchange.
Standards
Information Technology Services maintains and follows the following standards in accordance with the ISU Desktop Computer Standards.
